The number of points earned is determined by the weight and rarity of the fish you manage to catch.

The ambiance sound effects are very immersive up to the point you can almost smell the pond you’re casting the line into. The graphics aren’t exactly flawless, but this fact won’t take anything from the game because if you like fishing IRL, you’ll certainly have a blast. Otherwise, how did you even end up here in the first place?

How to play Backwater Fishing

When you see the fish swimming across the pond, you’ll naturally want to cast the line somewhere near them, but this won’t ensure they bite on it. Patience is the key to victory. Once the fish is hooked, you must reel it out delicately, or it might become the one that got away.

To help you perform this maneuver correctly, there’s a circle at the bottom left that gradually fills the more you pull. Optimally, you want to reel the fish out when the red lines around the circle almost reach their peak, but be careful not to press too hard, or you’ll lose the catch.

Use the mouse pointer to pinpoint the area on the pond, then click to cast the line. Hold the left mouse button to reel the hook out of the water.
