Dots and Boxes
Dots and Boxes is the pencil-and-paper classic where you draw lines between dots and claim each box you close.
Play against the computer or share the screen with a friend. Every closed box is filled in blue or red to show who took it, and the player with the most boxes at the end wins.
How to Play Dots and Boxes?
Players take turns drawing one line between two neighboring dots, across or up and down. Nothing is scored until the fourth side of a box goes in. The player who draws that last side gets a point, the box fills with their color, and they take another turn right away. That extra turn is the heart of Dots and Boxes: one closed box often opens the next, and a whole chain can fall in a single go.
Before you press Play, the menu lets you set up the match. Choose one player against the computer or two players, pick Normal or Hard difficulty, and select a board size. Quick Game starts with a number of lines already drawn, so the scoring begins sooner. The scores sit in the top corners of the screen.
Tips and Tricks:
- Count the sides: A box with three sides drawn is a point for whoever moves next. Avoid drawing that third side when you have another move.
- Take the whole chain: Closing a box gives you another turn. When boxes are lined up, keep going until the chain runs out.
- Try Quick Game first: With lines already on the board you reach the scoring fast and see how chains work.
