Colonist.io is an online port of the classic resource-management board game modelled after Settlers of Catan. You build settlements, trade resources and compete for victory points in a multiplayer environment.

How to Play Colonist.io?

You begin by placing settlements and roads on the hexagonal board to secure resource generation when dice are rolled. Each turn you roll dice, collect resources, then trade with other players or the bank and build structures like settlements or cities, or buy development cards. Trading and negotiation matter: you can offer deals, accept or decline from other players. You also need to watch for the robber when a roll of 7 occurs: it blocks resource generation for targeted hexes. To win you accumulate victory points through building, holding longest road or largest army, and using development cards. For beginners focus on placing your first settlements on high-frequency dice numbers (like 6 or 8), diversify resource types, and trade smartly rather than hoarding resources. Advanced players should monitor opponents’ expansion, manage the robber proactively, and optimize timing of building vs trading to block opponents’ moves.
