You can upgrade the Income per block installed, builders’ movement Speed, and buy a new Worker to increase the total number of contractors.

Freshly hired employees make a huge difference, especially in the beginning. To balance the gameplay, they become very expensive quickly, so you can’t really neglect Income and Speed. However, whichever path you choose to take, the construction project will inevitably be completed, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
