War Groups

In the post-apocalyptic world, the Zone is populated by many War Groups — factions of survivors — doing what it takes to persevere in the harsh and unforgiving environment. When resources are scarce, conflicts become a natural part of everyday life as the fierce battles for territory and strategic vantage points happen around the clock.

At its essence, this is a 2D real-time strategy with RPG elements such as unit inventory, level-ups, consumables, and various other upgrades. The graphics are fairly humble (the action unfolds on a military-style 2D map), but nevertheless, the character portraits and inventory items actually look amazing. There’s an extensive Campaign featuring 11 unique chapters and an additional Survival mode, both of which can be played at three difficulties.

How to play War Groups

The Learning tutorial in the Campaign mode does an amazing job of introducing you to the basic and advanced game mechanics. Therefore, we highly recommend you play through it because it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to complete and will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

This game is pretty challenging, even with default difficulty, so you shouldn’t hesitate to tune it down during the first playthrough. Try to outmaneuver the enemies so you can start the encounters on your own terms. Aside from hiring fresh recruits, equipping your squads with better weapons, armor, and consumables is an essential factor for success.

What are the controls for War Groups?

Click or tap on the easily discerned icons in the flawlessly designed UI to select squads, open inventory, shop for items, and move your troops across the map.
Hold the item in your inventory to see its effects via tooltips and double-click/tap to use it.
