Word Solitaire
Word Solitaire is a word puzzle where the playing cards have been swapped for word cards and category cards.
It is solitaire, but instead of kings and queens you are sorting words into groups. Which sounds gentle. Then the move counter comes out.
How to Play Word Solitaire?
Each level starts with a partly filled board. You draw one card at a time from the deck and place it where it helps. To build a category stack you first place a category card, then add all the word cards that belong to it. The goal is to sort every card into its correct group and clear the table before the move limit runs out.
You lose if you run out of moves or reach a position with no valid move left. As you go further, you get fewer moves, more categories and trickier words, which makes it a proper workout for your vocabulary and your associative thinking. There is an undo button for the moments you regret, and a leaderboard showing the ten most active players.
Tips and Tricks:
- Place category cards early: Word cards have nowhere to go until their category is on the table.
- Think in themes: Before placing a word, ask which group it could belong to.
- Use undo wisely: When every move counts, one take-back can save the level.
