Jacksmith the donkey blacksmith is a master of his craft and one of the smartest characters in the fable-styled fantasy realm. Accompanied by the loyal dog apprentice Scout he’s come to truly enjoy his job, but making a living solely from selling hinges and horseshoes won’t cut it anymore. Across the realm ruled by the Royal Plumpfeather family, the most unexpected opportunity arises.

Dudley the rat wizard has abducted the king’s beautiful daughter Liliana whom he’s been romantically obsessing over for a while. A substantial bounty awaits anyone who manages to apprehend the perpetrator and save the kidnapped princess. While our protagonist is a master at forging a weapon, wielding one is not exactly the dynamic duo’s strong suit.

Jacksmith and Scout decide to pack their smithy into a carriage and put their craft to proper use by supplying the frontline troops. Not that we doubt our protagonist’s noble intentions, but in times of war, selling weapons is the most lucrative of businesses, after all.

How to play Jacksmith

Essentially, your job is to craft the best weapons possible for the royal troops attempting to capture Dudley the wizard rat. The royal soldiers are bound to lose many battles against a variety of vile creatures, so the least you can do is give them a better fighting chance. There are a total of 6 items you’ll learn to craft during the extensive righteous campaign:

• Swords
• Bows
• Axes
• Shields
• Pikes
• Maces

The frontline troops will hit you with Orders of specific weapon types before pushing forward into the heat of battle. The weapon’s main stats, Power and Durability, are determined by your craftsmanship skills. In the later stages of the game, you’ll be able to imbue weapons with elemental enchantments to further boost their effectiveness.

Upon defeating all the monsters on the current trail, you’ll be able to open a treasure chest containing an Epic Weapon Design and the materials required to craft it. Crafting these weapons will provide a Bonus Effect to every weapon wielded by the troops on that day.

In the main menu, you’ll find a variety of tabs containing character Info, acquired items in your Inventory, specific weapon Designs, extensive Bestiary, unlocked Badges, and a highly recommended in-depth Help menu. Taking some time to read the in-game tips as doing it will greatly improve your ability to fully comprehend the complex mechanics.
